PicoCore Extended
PicoCore Extended is a service package that builds on Essential and is designed for solutions with high business criticality and increased technical complexity. The package is typically used in organisations where PIM solutions, customer portals, integrations, or other central data platforms are essential to daily operations, and where greater demands are placed on monitoring, maintenance, and availability.
Extended includes all elements from PicoCore Essential and expands on these with more comprehensive monitoring, active software management, and a defined emergency preparedness during holiday periods.
Extended monitoring of critical systems
PicoCore Extended includes monitoring of critical systems at an extended level. The monitoring is set up by Pico using selected monitoring services and is structured according to Pico Best Practice. Typically between 0 and 10 standard alerts are established, without the use of customer-specific or custom configuration.
The extended monitoring enables Pico to handle incidents both reactively and proactively. When critical situations arise that may have a negative impact on business-critical systems, Pico is the first point of contact. This reduces the risk of prolonged downtime and supports a more stable and predictable operation of the solution.
Software Management
PicoCore Extended includes software management of the solution's standard software components. Pico continuously monitors the release of security patches and carries out a technical assessment of each patch's criticality in relation to the specific solution.
Based on this assessment, a recommendation is provided to the customer regarding handling and timing. Upon approval, Pico commits to implementing security patches without undue delay. In addition to critical security updates, relevant updates and new versions are communicated on an ongoing basis, giving the customer the opportunity to keep the solution up to date. Updates are only carried out after approval and with a focus on stability and continuity.
Emergency preparedness during holiday periods
With PicoCore Extended, emergency preparedness is established during defined holiday periods between 08:00 and 16:00. During these periods, the customer is assured support and personal assistance, so that critical incidents and potential operational challenges can be handled if they arise.
The preparedness team consists of a backend developer, a frontend developer, and a PIM consultant. This ensures that technical, data-related, and solution-specific issues can be addressed quickly and with the right expertise.
Holiday periods typically include the most commonly used summer holiday weeks in July, weekdays between Christmas and New Year, the day after Ascension Day, and the three weekdays leading up to Easter.
Context and application
PicoCore Extended is used as a natural service package for solutions that have passed a basic level of maturity and now require increased stability, systematic maintenance, and predictable support — including during periods when the customer operates with reduced staffing.
The package creates a solid operational foundation and often serves as an intermediate step between Essential and Premium, where the requirements for preparedness, transparency, and ongoing follow-up are further heightened.
